The team, four and two legged including “Alan the Goat” are all safely back home after an amazing start to 2019 at MET Tour I and II, Oliva Nova. Thank you to Bettina and all her team for making our lives so easy and creating such a great environment for the horses to train and compete.
It was everything that makes horses by Toulon special that made the last week amazing…. The blood, power and scope that Toulon passes on to his progeny shines through time and time again, also their staying power which is so important in the modern day sport; both of the horses featured below had as much power in their engines during the last week of the MET II as they did in the first week of MET I in January.
Mijnheer Van De Lentamel, seven year old Emerald x Toulon had jumped consistently all tour, albeit that he may have been feeling a bit too well and fresh during the first week in January but in the end that blood gave him the ingredients to just get better and better each week he jumped culminating in third place in the Seven Year old Final in week 3 of MET II.VIDEO
Not to be outdone the super scopey talented eight year old, L’Artiste De Toxandria (Toulon x Kashmir Van Schuttershof), affectionately known as “Beast”, stepped up to jump his first 1.45m class and what a display he gave showing every reason why he is a star of the future!... horse power at its best! Watch my flyer to the last fence!VIDEO
Also a special mention for top jockey Anna Wilks who was on fire the last weeks of the tour on both these young horses and to the vintage unicorn, Undicci … jumping our first 3* Grand Prix for one fence down!
Thank you all… my amazing horses that I am so lucky to ride and our top team! Josef it’s not too late to change your mind… thank you for everything you have done and good luck in your new journey as a race jockey!
